Yahoo Answers: Do mermaids wear wetsuits?
This one does especially when swimming in the 56°F waters of the San Francisco Bay.
While I felt like a very unsexy neoprene sausage amongst the rest of the sleek speedo clad swimmers, I reminded myself that hypothermia is not sexy either.
So as I floated along the bay, icy cold water rushing into my wetsuit, my breathing moving away from a less hysterical pace, I realized I’ve returned home.
I emerged from the waters of Lake Michigan as a woman, but my body still holds memories of wading in icy cold tide pools for sea urchins, cold sea winds whipping my face dry on the ever eroding cliffs, and gallavanting around the nooks and crannies of the Bay Area in search of adventure.
I even learned how to skin, slice and saute geoduck, the provocatively phallic clam, this trip! I briefly sauteed the sliced geoduck in copious amounts of brown butter and a splash of vermouth, and made a delicious dipping sauce of yuzu juice, ponzu (a mix of yuzu juice and soy sauce), and wasabi. The buttery geoduck paired well with the bright, faintly pungent, and savory sauce.
Hot tip: Freeze the geoduck after cleaning it of copious amounts of sand. Once it’s frozen, it’s easier to unsheath it of its skin
And while I consider the undulating waves of Pacific Ocean my first lover, my heart is absolutely not monogamous when it comes to adventure and romance.
I’m still dreaming of my passionate and laughter filled tryst with Adrianna Rose and her long time lover, a 7 year anniversary celebration with a special gentleman in Phoenix, the sweetest and very generous first dates in Phoenix and San Francisco, and thought provoking and hilarious conversations with some of my favorite curvaceous muses, Rose Gibson and Flora Sparks.
And Phoenix… You know how to turn a one night stand into a long standing affair!
I was utterly charmed by Barbie exhibit and the portraiture exhibit at the Phoenix art museum, the verdant trunks of the palo santo trees, and the incredible foie gras scented kisses, charred cabbage, and sunset views at Geordie’s. While I am incredibly sad that I was unable to visit the Phoenix puppet theater this time around, I am ~manifesting~ a night of whimsy and seduction to the Phoenix Puppet Theater and the hot springs.
When will I return to the West Coast?
To be honest, I’ll need several months of rest and quality time with my new land dog after I finish my whirlwind tour of the the Midwest in April and East Coast in May.
Stay tuned for my return to the West Coast in the fall! Should I even make a stop by LA?
With that I leave you with a peep at the beautiful sea pup during my bay swim! The West Coast was truly so magical <3 and I can’t wait to see you again soon or via FMTY ;)
